Blue Fingers

I found my blue ribbon!
And my glue gun!

So i didn't really need to get a glue gun in the first place. Oh well. That's what happens when you live in 2 different rooms and everything gets misplaced. It would have helped a lot more if i've kept things where i took them out from.

Untidy untidy me.

Today's decorating day for Yan Bin's Wedding Reception! YAY! I'm excited. I'm sure there's not much left to do, to put up, but everyone else is panicky. I prayed last night about today that it'll all go smoothly. And for Ed too for his interview today. Recently i've been wondering if God listens to our prayers even when we don't go to church, or when we stray far from Him. I'm glad He's still listening.

Hungry is me :(

Today my glue gun short circuited. I was outside watching tv, while waiting for the gun to heat up, and then i heard a loud 'pop' and then the power tripped in my house. I run into Wayne's room to see a smoking glue gun.

Ah well, that's what happens when you buy cheap products. I'm glad it didn't catch fire .

I'm done with touching up a bit of the bows i did. And i made 8 more big bows for the curtains up front on the stage, and then 8 bigger versions of the smallest bow i have, and then 6 more huge ones. I'm SO tired of bows. I can't wait for the day i can put it all up. But then i have to figure out next how to attach wire/pins on all 50 bows.

Man, i can't believe i did 50 bows.

I'm tired.

Oh the lighter side, i LOVE longans! They are officially the best fruits on earth. I bought some from Carrefour and on a promo too! YUM! I guess they are good snacks.

Oh , and i LOVE seaweed too!! The Big Sheet series.

argh. :(

Today i was woken up by a phone call. The person on the other line talks to me as if he doesn't know what he's done. " So what's the plan later? You're busy now? " The sleepy side wants to tell him , he's just made me super grumpy by calling me now, but the nicer side of me feels embarrassed about even telling him i'm still asleep while he's up and about. (So , i'm not the kind of bird that catches the worm, but i'm not a picky eater. And who's to say that bird can't find worms if it looks hard.)

Anyway, i think i sounded a little rude on the phone, but he didn't seem to sense it ( i hope) and then later on my mum asks me to quick get dressed for lunch cause my dad's eating alone at a coffee shop. And as i'm getting ready, she's rushing me and i let the grumpy side answer her back with "Imironingmyshirtanditsnotlikeiwantedto
goanywayandyouexpectmetogetreadysosoonwhy
dontyougofirstyouthinkimsuperwomanah."

With which she replies after a short pause, " Or you just stay home la, i help you buy lunch. "

Immediately i took that option but felt super bad at the same time. She had not want to go out too cause it's a delightfully rainy day , and only got dressed cause i said i would join her. So it wasn't that i didn't want to go along, it's just that i was still in sleep mode and i needed more time to warm up. I wished i had answered differently though. Now i'm imagining my poor mum in the rain walking lonely-ly home and the worst senarios that would make me feel bad for treating my mum that way.

I'm a mean lazy pig.

Poetry

I was watching Martha Stewart and there was this clip shown from The Sapranos, and it had a beautiful stanza from a poem read :

Our Father which art in heaven
Stay there
And we will stay on earth
Which is sometimes so pretty.

(Jacques Prévert (1900-1977), French poet. Pater Noster, Paroles (1946; rev.1949), trans. by Lawrence Ferlinghetti (1958). Opening lines.)

I think it's beautiful, because as a Christian, though we are to look forward to the day Christ comes back again, but sometimes, i feel there is so much more to see and there is joy in the littlest things , that i want it to last a little more.

Flower Power!

Today i bought flowers! I'm glad i found a place with a HUGE selection and the prices were not too bad too. Came back carrying a huge, quite heavy bag of them, but i really was excited about making them. Got a lot of help from the lady at the shop too. She helped me with choosing the flowers and getting what would be suitable, and more cost effective.

Ok it looks like a small bag, but it's really bigger than it seems.

I finally got done with 1 flower ring, and now have approx. 2 more to go. sigh..I feel pretty tired cause i was sitting on the floor making them, so my back aches a bit. And my neck hurts too. But i'm thankful i didn't really feel the pain yet till i almost got done with it. So i'm just going to do 1 ring a day.

Completed flower ring.

YAY! It's done!

I love the Glue Gun!

I think the glue gun is the best invention yet! I've been making bows, and i didn't think i would finish the most of them last night, but i did! Now it's on to making perhaps a few more of each kind just incase i don't have enough. Then it's on to buying fake flowers. I realised i have 1 and a half weeks left!! Need to get all things settled by 30 Sept and that includes ordering balloons! I better set my alarm on the phone so i dont forget!

Bows Galore!

Drying out bows.

FOOD!

Ok, I'm going to cut to the chase and just put up food from Vietnam!

YUM!!!!!!!!

Day 1

Our first coffee in Vietnam outside the apartment we stayed at. It cost 6000 Dong which equals 60 cents.

We then head off for dinner at Wrap & Roll. As you can tell by the name, it is a fun restaurant that serves various kinds of spring rolls;fried, steamed, wrapped with all sorts of fillings! YUM!

This dish is meat wrapped up in grape leaves.

This is a leavy sort of roll. You basically wrap up vegetables and noodles in a bigger leaf.

This roll is fried with a black sesame outer skin, filled with pork. ( i think)

Yum the food was great and then it was on to Pho 24 , for noodles! When i went the last time i thought the '24' stood for it being open 24 hours, but Kai Ming said it's because in the past, every main course on the menu cost 24,000 dong. That's $2.40. It's not that way anymore.

Beef Noodles!

Then we had a 'Banh Mi' ( i think i spelled it correctly) which is a french loaf sandwich. I didn't take a photo of that :(

Day 2

We had breakfast at a stall across from Benh Thanh Market, and then we went to the Post Office to take a look.

Opps i should be uploading pics of food instead!!

Here's one we had of lunch. It's the only stall that sells it. ( at least that's what Kai Ming says) It's basically pho dipped in a batter and fried, and then slices of beef and vegs are thrown on top, with a 'hor fun' like sauce.

And then we had a seafood dinner with Kai Ming and his dad. But i forgot to take pictures! Cause the food was too tempting and it TOTALLY distracted us from remembering. BUT! We did take a picture of desert.

This place sells their famous coconut icecream. I don't think the ice cream itself is made of coconut, but there are two flavours of ice-cream, topped with fresh fruits and preserved ones. It cost 48,000 Dong which is $4.80 SGD.

Day 3

For lunch we ate at Nem Restaurant. 'Nem' is basically a culture in Vietnam, and this restaurant just serves 3 main courses, so it's easy to make a choice on what to eat.

This is a friend spring roll stuffed with crab meat filling. The roll is squarish and quite big. Then Ed ordered crab meat soup. YUM!

Then me and Ed went off to explore the city of Ho Chi Minh. It's SOOOO hot there, we just kept on looking for drink stalls.

We came upon our cheapest find. Kumquat juice AND Ice Milk Coffee for 10,000 Dong. That's $1 SGD!!!

I also learnt that perhaps the word 'Kum' is the vietnames name for the fruit that looks like a green orange, and 'quat' means to squeeze. So.. maybe the word Kumquat originated from them?

And then i have more pictures of dinner and lunch we had but i'll need to resize them. So until another time, I MISS VIETNAM!

Wowee Vietnam!

Man, i miss Vietnam!

This time round, it felt like a totally different experience. During the trip, i tried to analyse whether i enjoyed this trip more, or if i was having fun, seeing more places, but i felt that i didn't do much during the trip, or find it any different from the last time. Maybe it's because it's not as exciting.

Anyway, i do miss Vietnam, and the food, and that i was able to experience it with good company!

Pictures will be up next time! ( cause i'm too sleepy/lazy to do it now)

Money Woes

Sigh.

I'm facing the point when i'm worried about money again. When i look at my financial situation now, i can honestly say that it's an improvement from the past, and it really helps that i did a half year contract. I'm finally understanding the importance of having savings.

I think i'll just need to get back some cash that i've loaned out and i'll be on safer ground for a while.

Also, i've gotten some ideas that i should really start working on.

And i need to do 2 things : Exercise, and get driving lessons.

I'm a Gamer!

I've been playing a RPG called Broken Sworn : The Angel of Death. I like RPGs, it works the brain, and allows the player to explore. Well, by the title of the blog, i don't mean to say that i'm an expert, but i'm into playing games now.

Anyone have Sims 2 they can lend me so i can start on that? Heh.

Yan Bin's wedding reception is coming up, and i'm glad it's going to be pretty easy since the consultant he spoke to has drawn up some idea of how it's going to look. Cool! I'll just need to go check out ribbons and balloons .

I'm really thankful about a teaching job that a friend hooked me up with. I spoke to the guy and i love how it sounds. I've always enjoyed working with kids, though they can be stressful, but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it soon enough, and i like that the job's pretty flexible. I thank God for that. I've prayed for jobs to come by, and God has always been faithful, and i'm really glad i can depend on Him for my needs. And this job's perfect because then i would have time to help with the decorations for the reception.

Ed and me were concerned about our free-lancing and whether it would be substantial, and our fears, and i'm glad that we were able to be afraid together. Also, i'm glad that we spoke about praying for each other about it, and just letting God make a way for us. I'm glad i have that with Ed.
